Multiple Portraits
HistoryThe photographic technique of multiple images emerged from the late late 19th century and then disappeared. This technique was done using mirrors as the figures were placed at an angle so that the reflection would give the effect of a multiple portrait as it would result in four reflections of that subject.
This old technique is not necessary anymore as we are able to create multiple images using special computer software such as photoshop. Paul M SmithPaul Smith originally studied Fine Art at Coventry University from 1991-1995, this course led him on to studying photography at the Royal College of art and left with a masters degree. During this time he explored masculinity and the construction of alpha male identities.
He is mostly known for his complex multiple portraits where a figure is displayed several times in one single digital photograph. His most famous work was a series of images of Robbie Williams for his song 'Sing when your winning' |
